The CEO and Founder
Hello.
I am Jared Russell, CEO and Founder of lamb.eng. Civil engineer and entrepreneur based in the USA. The dream switched from being an NFL player to being an artist (fine arts and music) to diving into the STEM field to pursue a new dream (I still create music and art btw).
I’ve spent a decade in the industry focusing on engineering consulting, site design, grading and drainage, stormwater management, permitting, and construction assistance for massive food companies across the United States. Seeing what it took to become a successful firm inspired me to look outside those walls and build something of my own.
Discussing goals with friends, who also have started, or desired to start their own practices in their respective fields helped motivate my decision. After watching some YouTube videos on entrepreneurship, I chose to do something with the skills I’ve gained over the years as a civil engineer. Special thanks to my mentors, who were present early in my career and getting me up to speed with the ins and outs on the consulting and design side.
It began with freelancing. It introduced me to a familiar challenge with a new form, work-life balance. The main difference was that now I have my own clients to serve outside of my day job. The solutions for success are fervent communication and scheduling. Everything needs to be scheduled.
Becoming a freelancer while working full-time was the way I chose to venture off and just start something. Determination, persistence, and resilience is key in making anything work. Regardless of the difficulty, never allow negative emotions to force you to give up. Decide based on the truth.
The hand of the diligent will bear rule: but the slothful will be under tribute.
Proverbs 12:24
The name
lamb was inspired by the metaphor used in the Hebrew scriptures and the Bible to represent Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for humanity as the Lamb of God. Not only is he the sacrifice, but God. His mission was to take on the sins on the entire world and give up his life so that we can have the gift of eternal life…again. He’s alive now by the way.
Formation of the name was borrowed from dot notation used in computer programming to access parts of an object or to access child elements from a parent element.
The lamb would be parent and eng (engineering or the engineer) would be the child. Put it all together, and the engineer is a child of God.
The logo

The logo was created by the Founder. It is the face of the lamb in a waterdrop.
Jesus promises us the living water that will lead to everlasting life.
But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst; but the water that I will give him will be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
John 4:14
